Shirley Patricia Poehler

Mrs. Shirley Patricia Poehler, of Indianapolis, passed away on the early evening of Thursday, February 27, 2020 at the Brownsburg Healthcare Center. She was 85. Shirley was born December 5, 1934 in Indianapolis, one of 13 children born to the late Thomas Harry and Bertha Mae (Burkett) Hoover.

Shirley was a graduate of White’s Institute in Wabash County, Indiana and had worked for several years as a courier with National City Bank retiring in 2001. She enjoyed playing bingo, reading, watching old movies, singing and listening to Country Music, particularly the music of Eddie Arnold and Charley Pride. She was an excellent cook and cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Shirley is survived by her loving husband of nearly 53 years, Carl J. Poehler, Sr.; her children, DeeAnn (Rick) Merrick, Vicki (Ron) Hinson, Donna (Frank) Barnes, Jerry (Terri) Poehler and Kitty (Scott) Paten as well as 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, She is also survived by a sister, Nona (Bob) Penly and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by 11 brothers and sisters.

Memorial services will be announced when scheduled.

Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 1202 South Lynhurst Drive, Indianapolis is entrusted with the arrangements.
