Robert “Bob” Earl Childers, of Avon, passed away after a battle with multiples medical conditions on October 12, 2020. He was born April 7, 1934, in Indianapolis, to the late Gilbert and Florence Randal Childers.

Bob enjoyed watching westerns and his favorite actor was Gene Autry. He also enjoyed listening to music. Bob served in the Navy from 1957-1961, during the Korean War. He retired after 30 years of employment at Olin Brass.

Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years Sharon Downs Childers; sons Robert Jr., Rodney (Linda) and Ronald Childers; grandchildren Zachary Childers and Jordan Schaler (Aaron). He was preceded in passing by his parents and sisters Margaret and Betty Cloud.

Service for Bob will be 12:30 p.m., Saturday, October 17, 2020 at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 1202 S. Lynhurst Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana. Calling will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the mortuary. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorial gifts be made to the American Cancer Society.
