Mr. Robert Earl ‘Bob’ Smith, of Indianapolis, passed away on the morning of Monday, March 2, 2020 at IU Health Methodist Hospital. He was 82. Bob was born June 16, 1937 in Sparta, Tennessee, a son of the late Pete and Anna (Dodson) Smith.
Bob was a self-employed truck driver for many years, owning and operating Smith’s Trucking in Indianapolis. He enjoyed playing Bingo at the Shrine Club on Washington Street. Bob looked forward to taking trips to Tennessee to visit his family. He dearly loved his family and cherished the time he could spend with them, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the Prospect Lodge No. 669, F&AM where he served as Master in 1975 and the Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis. Bob was a proud veteran who honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. He attended the United Evangelical Church.
Bob is survived by his children, Glenda Bradford, Linda (Jeff) Speziale, Jack (Rhonda) Smith, Malinda (Rick) Magurah and Bobby (Michelle) Smith; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Ann Johnson and Helen (Buddy) West as well as several nieces and nephews.
Services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Friday, March 6, 2020 at the United Evangelical Church, 2916 W. Mooresville Rd, Indianapolis with Pastor Ray Hampton and Rev. Willie B. Lyles officiating. Burial will follow in West Newton Cemetery with Military Honors provided by a contingent from the United States Air Force, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service at the church.
