Pete Farrar passed away on March 7th, 2023, at St. Francis Hospital after a long battle with cancer and its complications. He was a hard-working, loving husband and devoted family man. All who knew him, knew of his great love for his wife Nelda. Others frequently commented on their relationship, smiling just to see them together.
Pete was the family grill master and a great cook who passed his love of cooking and feeding people on to his son. He taught his daughter to be a strong independent woman who stands up for her convictions. His grandchildren knew how proud he was of their everyday existence and that he supported and celebrated each of their accomplishments in sports, school, and church. Pete spent many of his 70 years racing cars and go carts. Sharing his love of racing with his children, grandchildren, and friends was more than a hobby. He could always be counted on as the handyman, mechanic, or electrician for friends and family. He was an active member of the VFW 908 auxiliary. He was always available for a charity walk or any event to give back in the community.
Pete was forced to retire from Trusty-Cook, Inc. when he became ill. He handled plant maintenance there for many years. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nelda Cooper Farrar, his son Pete Farrar Jr (Jennifer), two grandchildren Leo and Lydia Farrar, his daughter Christina Alexander (Brandon), brother Steve (Jo) and many other loving family members including nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents Clare (Boss) Farrar and Barbara Farrar.
