Patricia Westerfield Obituary
Patricia J. “Patti” Westerfield, 81, of Indianapolis, IN went home to heaven Monday October 1, 2018 surrounded by family. She was born April 3, 1937 in Indianapolis, IN to Walter and Margaret (Kinnick) Matkins. She married William Joseph “Pete” Westerfield Sr. on June 28, 1963, he preceded her in death on December 17, 2014.
She was a 1955 graduate of Beech Grove High School where she had been a majorette. She was a graduate of the House of James Beauty College, a member of American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Atkins Saw Legion Post 355 in Indianapolis, IN, and had been a member of Job’s Daughters. For years she was a self-employed beautician and later trained and worked was employed as a unit secretary for Saint Francis Hospital in Beech Grove for 17 years in the Cardiac Surgery Unit.
Survivors include her children Sabrina A. (Manukai), William Joseph “B.J.” (Brandi), Jeannie (Shane) and John (Sharon); nine grandchildren Zachary, Alexis, Ethan, Jada, William, Benjamin, Alyssa, Aubrey, and Emily; two brothers Kenneth R. Matkins (Debbie), Jerry W. Matkins (Suzanne), best friend Anne; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins; all of whom she adored.
She loved spending time with her grandchildren, family, friends and traveling. She had a huge heart and smile to match. She will be remembered as a ‘confidence keeper’ for many who needed her unjudging character.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Son-in-law Shane Kirtner will conduct a service Friday, October 5, 2018 at 1PM at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 7602 Madison Avenue, in Indianapolis, IN. Friends may call Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 4-8 PM at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, IN.
