Jo Reeves passed peacefully on December 1, 2021, after a 16-year battle with Parkinson’s and a few years of Alzheimer’s. She had been residing at Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Care in Mooresville, Indiana. Before that she lived in her log cabin on Goat Hollow Rd. since 1958. Jo was born in southern Indiana, the sixth of seven children to Annie Fern Crossland and Lewis Mallette. Her older siblings were Loren Mallette, Locia Gamble, Leoka Gamble, Ava Benjamin, and Joyce Mallette. Her younger sister and lifelong best friend is Dorothy Conklin. They lived on a large farm near Bramble. She married John William Reeves in 1950 and had her first baby, Donna Fay in 1951, followed by John, Hugh and Paul while living in Waverly, then moved to a log cabin between Martinsville and Mooresville in 1958 where they had three more children Joyce, Jane and Will.Jo worked at the Post Office in Martinsville from 1969 till she retired in 2004. She and Jack divorced in1974. She never remarried.
Jo was a champion horseshoe pitcher winning many trophies. She loved gardening, houseplants, cooking and sewing. But mainly she loved her large family. She came from a large family and had seven children herself with too many grandchildren and great grandchildren to name here around 15 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren at last count!She will be sadly missed by many friends and family. We love you so much!
Service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Life Point Church, 825 N. Indiana St. Mooresville, In 46158 with calling from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, you may donate to mom’s favorite charity, Habitat for Humanity at habitatindiana.org or flowers may be sent to Church.
