Larry Joe Harmeyer

Larry Joe Harmeyer, 70, Greenwood, Indiana, passed away on October 9, 2020, with his family by his side.

Larry was born December 5, 1949, being the youngest-born to Joseph Anthony Harmeyer and Donzie Harmeyer (Brown). He was preceded in death by his mother and father, brother Dallas William Benedict and his sisters, Shirley May Long and Nancy Kay Berry.

Larry is survived by his wife of 52 years, Donna Mae Harmeyer, son Larry Anthony Harmeyer, and daughters Venus Lavena Louise (Jay) Thorne and Donna Jo (Chris) Smithers, along with his two beautiful granddaughters whom he adored, Maggie Jo Thorne and Sydney Elizabeth Thorne all of whom addressed him as “POP.”

Larry was the owner of Harmeyer Drywall, retiring in 2002. He had an amazing voice and talent for music. Everyone loved listening to him sing. His true passion and love of his life was his family. Larry met Mae when she was 12 years old. They raised a caring and loving family together. The last 12 years of his life were spent as Pop. This role fit him perfectly, and he was the most amazing grandpa, with many days filled with tea parties, board games, and never missing any of his granddaughters sporting events, where you could always find him cheering loudly. His passion and love for his family is evident and continues through the love they all share for each other. He was a great role model for all of his family and will always be our HERO.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 1, at Southern Dunes, 8220 South Tibbs Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46217  from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, with service starting at 3:00 pm. We ask that you dress casually as we celebrate the life of a great man.
