James "Jim" Edward Morrison

James Edward Morrison, 92, of Greenwood passed January 29, 2024, at Franciscan Hospice House.  Jim was born to the late Paul and Nellie Morrison on July 27,1931 in Toledo, Ohio. Jim was married to Ann (Rainbolt) Morrison for 66 wonderful years. This union produced three children Joe Morrison, Amy Morrison and Jeni Harris, as well as four grandchildren: Meredith, Graham, Nick and Zach.  In addition to his parents Jim was preceded in passing by his brother, Dick Morrison.

Jim attended schools in Washington, PA, Oil City, PA, Jasonville, Indiana, Arsenal Tech High School, and Lawrence Central High School before graduating from Ben Davis High School and serving honorably in the United States Air Force.  He continued his lifelong love of learning by earning a business degree from the University of Cincinnati, a computer degree from Ivy Tech and a Masters in Family Therapy from Butler University.  Jim’s career led him to work for many companies along the way including Allison’s, Glenn L. Martin, North American, North Electric, General Electric, Midtown Community Health Center, Ransburg, Jarrett Engineering and Creative Industries. Jim enjoyed reading, camping, sports and travel. He was a member of the Southport United Methodist Church and Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church, Keenagers and American Legion Post #252 Honor Guard Unit. Jim was a supporter of Alzheimer’s Association participating in an IU Alzheimer Research Study Group with the hope of eradicating the disease. He also volunteered with the Suicide Prevention Line, Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Boys Scouts of America.

Funeral Services for Jim with Military Honors will be held 2:30 p.m., Friday, February 9, 2024, at Southport United Methodist Church, 1947 East Southport Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46227.  Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.  Arrangements by Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 1202 S.
