Helen E (Wencke) La Fara

Helen E. Wencke La Fara, 91, Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on December 6, 2020 at University Heights Health and Living Community. She was born January 4, 1929, in Indianapolis to the late Charles and Evelyn Wencke. Helen was married to her husband, Harold E. La Fara, for 70 years. They were married on March 5, 1950 in Indianapolis.

Helen was a member of Edgewood United Methodist Church. She was a full-time homemaker. However, in the 1960’s she worked part-time in the Edgewood Grade School Cafeteria and in the 1970’s she was a clerk at L.S. Ayers.

Helen is survived by her husband Harold E. La Fara; children Caroline Wyatt, Marilyn McCool and Glenn La Fara (Delinda); ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She is preceded in passing by her parents and brothers Jack and Carl Junior Wencke.

Services for Helen will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Norman F. Chance Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 504 National Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46227.  Calling will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday and 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center will be assisting in the arrangements.
