Eileen Crystal Land, of Indianapolis, IN, 100, passed away, at Rosegate Commons Assisted Living, her residence of nearly twenty years, on December 11, 2020. On January 21, 1920, Eileen was born to Arthur Claude and Elizabeth Grace Edwards in Spiceland, IN. She grew up in both Indiana and Florida and attended Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis.
She married Richard “Dick” Land on October 5, 1940. She was employed by Real Silk, State Life Insurance Company and Perry Central Junior High School. Eileen and Dick actually constructed their first home on the southside in Homecroft where they raised their son, Ronald. In their spare time, they enjoyed travel and attending musical and sports events. They were married for over sixty years.
After Richard’s passing in 2001, Eileen began a new chapter of her life at Rosegate. She made many new friends and enjoyed epic scrabble games, bingo, crafts, card games, and social events and outings.
She is survived by her son Ronald and his wife, Cynthia, of Indianapolis. Final arrangements are being handled by Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, with interment at Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial gifts can be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation or the Arthritis National Research Foundation.
