Earl Wayne Egner, known to his loved ones as Wayne, passed away on August 21, 2023, at the age of 71 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born on November 4, 1951, in Hamilton, Ohio, to Earl Egner and Evelyne Carberry.

Wayne was a man of great honor and integrity. He held his beliefs close to his heart and cherished his family, friends, and country. Throughout his life, he faced numerous challenges but always managed to be the best version of himself. Wayne was a proud man who dedicated his time and wisdom to guide and teach others. He possessed a compassionate spirit, never looking down on anyone less fortunate and always willing to lend a helping hand. His generosity knew no bounds, as he would give his last possession to someone in need.

Wayne cherished traditions and took joy in planning events that brought everyone together. Birthdays, Christmas, and Thanksgiving were particularly special to him. His presence and words of wisdom will continue to be felt, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of those who knew him. Wayne’s absence will be deeply felt, but his memory will forever live on.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Debra Egner, and his children Lee (Crystal) Egner, Mechelle Egner (Andrew Groff), and Keith Woodall (Sara Holtzer). Wayne also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren Austin Egner, Brittney Egner, Taylor Woodall, Cody (Sabrina) Woodall, Austin Clay, Kaitlyn Witt, Jayden Edenfield, Jaythen Groff, Ellie Beal, Addison Holtzer, and Cecilia Finn. Additionally, he is survived by eleven great-grandchildren.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Egner and Evelyne Carberry, as well as his son Gary Egner and daughter Michelle Egner. He was also preceded by his brothers Mike Egner, James Egner, Ernie Egner, and Buryl Egner, and his sisters Rachel Dawes and Louise Settles.

In his career, Wayne excelled in various fields, including welding, concrete work, general construction, and roofing. He was a skilled tradesman who loved working with his hands and took pride in his craftsmanship.

True Gospel Assembly was the place of worship where Wayne found solace and spiritual guidance.

Outside of work, Wayne pursued his hobbies with great enthusiasm. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and racing. Being outdoors brought him immense joy and allowed him to connect with nature.

A Graveside Memorial Service will be held to honor Wayne’s life at Memorial Park Cemetery, located at 9350 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229, on Friday, August 25th, 2023, at 2 pm.

Wayne’s legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in eternal peace.
