David Edward Dyar, 88, of Indianapolis passed away June 16, 2021 at Community South Hospital. He was born September 24,1932 in Indianapolis to the late Ralph Leo Dyar and Marie Anna (Bugh) Dyar. David was a 1950 graduate of Rushville High School and continued his life long learning at Butler University earning his BS in 1968 and his Master's Degree in 1975. He loved reading, especially history, traveling to Florida, making chocolate for Ye Old Sweet Shop in Brown County which he owned for 16 years. He was previously employed with Allison(GM), Indianapolis Public Schools as a teacher for 10 years and with Blue Cross in supervision. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints- Stop 11, and had previously served his faith community as Bishop of the LDS ward in Bloomington.
David is survived by his children Linda (Gary) Petersen, Dana (Joseph) Hansen, Carole (David) Campbell, Larry Dyar, Garry Dyar, and Bill (Debbie) Ingram; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister Pat (John) Haikara and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in passing by his wife of 41 years, Barbara Dyar and his step-son Donald Ingram.
Funeral Services for David will be 11:00a.m. Friday, June 18, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 900 E. Stop 11 Road, Indianapolis, Indiana, with calling from 9:30a.m. until the hour of service. Interment to follow at New Crown Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana.
