Daniel Vail Scott, Jr.

Mr. Daniel Vail “Dan” Scott, Jr., Indianapolis, passed away on the late evening of Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at his residence. He was 72. Dan was born December 4, 1947 in Oak Ridge, Tennessee a son of the Daniel V. Scott, Sr. and the late Margaret Mary (Lane) Scott.

Dan was a pilot having flown for and retiring from Ryan International as well as Life Line which involved flying premature infants to hospitals. Prior to his career as a pilot, he was a Virginia State Trooper. Dan spent his leisure time tinkering with vintage motorcycles and scooters. He also enjoyed working with computers and was the webmaster for the Hoosier Antique and Classic Bicycle Club. Dan had a soft soul for animals and over the years had been the owner of several rescue dogs.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ann (Latawiec) Scott, whom he married November 15, 2003; his father, Daniel V. Scott, Sr.; his sisters, Ruthie (Roy) Colver and Kathy (Wayne) Boyette; his half-sisters, Susan (Ben) Moyer, Jennifer (Jonathan) Layfield and Michelle (Craig) McCoy as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his mother, Dan is preceded in passing by his brother, John Scott.
