Cheri Sue (Archer) Spurgeon

Cheri Sue Spurgeon passed away on May 14, 2022, at the age of 73. 

She was born on May 22, 1948, in Indianapolis to the late Kenneth and Frieda Corrie Archer. 

She and her husband, Ted Spurgeon, were married for 51 years. Cheri worked for Indiana Bell (now AT&T) right after graduating from Ben Davis High School. She was always hardworking and retired from AT&T over 35 years later. Cheri loved speaking with her family in person and on the phone, with her favorite topic being her 3 grandsons (William, Zachary, and Nicholas Spurgeon). She truly enjoyed attending their baseball games, watching their taekwondo and track events, as well as reading in her down time. 

Cheri is survived by her husband Ted Spurgeon Sr, son Ted (Tanya) Spurgeon Jr; grandchildren, William, Zachary, and Nicholas Spurgeon; brothers Dale (Linda) Archer and Dwain (Tracy) Archer; and sisters Bonnie (Dave) Harmless, and Charlotte (Dale) Backfish.

She was preceded in death by her brother Charles Archer; and sister, Emma Batson. 

Funeral Services for Cheri will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 1202 S. Lynhurst Drive, Indianapolis. 

Visitation will be from 12:00-noon until 2:00 p.m., when the memorial service begins. 

Entombment will follow in West Ridge Cemetery, Indianapolis (21stand Raceway).
