Carol Singleton Obituary

Carol Joan Singleton was granted her angel wings on January 6, 2021. Her final days were spent surrounded by family at her sister’s house Anna Fiest.

Mrs. Carol Joan was born July 14, 1929 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Byford and Alice Wilson.

She attended Southport High School and later met the love of her life Leo F. Singleton. They met at Riverside Roller Skating Rink. She knew he was the one for her when he asked her to skate with him. All it took was him skating backwards and her looking in his eyes to know he was the one for her. He sang “If you were the only girl and I was the only boy” Which he sang to her throughout her lifetime of 68 years. Carol Joan went home to her parents and told them she met the man she was going to marry later in life. They married February 6, 1948 and together they had three children Debbie, Mary, and Jane. Leo proceeded her in death November 11, 2016.

Carol was highly active, for 43 years at Burge Terrace Baptist Church. Every Friday night she and Leo enjoyed going out to eat and playing cards with their lifelong friends Bill and Marie McCafferty. They never missed spending New Years Eve together. Carol Joan is survived by her four siblings Mary Alice Wilson, Floyd (Jean) Wilson, Anna (David) Fiest and Robert (Sharon) Wilson; three children Debbie (Keith) Dowell, Mary (Paul) Plowman, Jane (Michael) Williams; four beautiful grandchildren Joel Sparks, Melissa (Travis) Swineford, Payton (Katie) Plowman and Amanda Williams; two great grandchildren Christian (Janelle) Hublar and Victoria Sparks. She had several nephews and nieces who she loved and touched deeply.
