Arthur Maynard 'Art" Bird

Mr. Arthur Maynard ‘Art’ Bird, Greenfield, Indiana, passed away on the early morning of Friday, June 19, 2020 at Ascension-St. Vincent Heart Center in Carmel. He was 76. Art was born November 27, 1943 in Howell, Michigan to the late Arthur Maynard Bird, Sr. and Lois Marion (Young) Bird.

Art attended Howell (MI) High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1962. He has also earned an Associates degree from Phoenix College in Arizona. He was a self-employed owner/operator truck driver for several years. Art was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying his Cessna four-seater, playing golf and riding his motorcycle. A sports enthusiast, he also got much pleasure and satisfaction from coaching his son’s baseball and football teams. He dearly loved his family, especially his son and grandchildren. He attended St. Barnabas Catholic Church.

Art is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Doris Jean (Armborst) Bird; his son, Dwight Bird; his grandchildren, Devon Bird and Addi Bird; his sisters, Rebecca (Ken) Niblock and Jean Tomlin; several nieces and nephews as well as his flying buddies.

Art was preceded in passing by his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at the Father Severin Life Center at St. Michael Catholic Church, 519 Jefferson Boulevard, Greenfield, Indiana with Reverend Jim Ferrell officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until the time of service at the Church.

It is respectfully requested that all those attending wear a mask and practice social distancing in accordance with church guidelines.

Inurnment will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
