Leva & family -- Uncle Carl (as I only knew him) will surely be missed. I will always remember the wonderful wedding dinner that was prepared at Chez Jean for my daughter, Cathy Sullivan (formerly married to Kurt Lunsford). Ribeye sandwiches at the State Fair will never be the same. Truly a phenomenal chef, husband, father, grandfather -- sending prayers on wings to bring you comfort.

Dear Leva and family,
I was so sorry to hear of Carl's death. I have never know anyone else who could make a delicious meal from "second rate" foods! His meals were the highlight of the choir retreats, church dinners, trips to Hillview and several other places we were graced by his presence over the years.
Carl always had a smile, a kind word and love for his family.
He will be missed, but I've no doubt he's now healthy and happy, and enjoying HIS retreat!
Peace and prayers to each of you. Time and faith will heal your broken hearts!

Leva and family

Sorry to hear of Carl's passing. What a wonderful person he was. He helped with the Marion County Fair and prepared the dinner for one of the Colonel's leaving Fort Harrison several years back. Ed remembers delivering bread to Carl's restaurant when he was at U.S. 31 and Fry Road. We will truly miss him. Our prayers are with all of you at this difficult time.

Carl's kindness and generosity made this world a better place. He will be missed, but his example of how to treat others will carry on thru all of us who were fortunate enough to feel Carl's love .

Dear Huckaby family,
I am so very sorry to learn of Carl's passing. May he rest in peace.
I'll never forget the family dinners at your restaurant and the kindness shown to Mandi and I by the Huckaby clan. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of Tom. I miss you all and am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

Carl will be greatly missed by the many people in the hospitality industry who worked with him or who just came to know him through his many activities and charitable work. I am sorry I can not be at the service today to express my condolenes to the family.

I had the privilege of working with Chef here at Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility. He was such a great asset and resource for these young men. Every year, I always made a point to stop and see him at the State Fair in Beef Tent. He was a good man and a man of integrity. To dine at the Lord ’s Table just took on a whole new meaning. Good luck and God Speed Chef Carl. Thanks for impacting my life.

Dear Leva and family, I am so thankful to be related to and part of such a hard working and respected family. It inspires me in whatever I do when I think about the achievements Carl made in his life. A standard we can all strive to live. It was also good to see everyone, I like shaking hands with people and asking, "Are we related ?" Jill and I both wish you well and hope to see you again in the not so distant future. I am so sorry for your loss. Even though I had not see the Chef since he left the Pendleton Juvenile where he was loved by everyone. He will always have a place in my heart. He was a wonderful man with a great smile.

He used to always tell us "Never trust a skinny chef".

We are so sorry to hear about Carl. He was such a wonderful man and a great cook. He was hugely instrumental in the success of our French Market church festival and supportive from the very beginning. We will miss him and are so sorry for you. He are going to try to plant some sort of living memorial for him at St. Joan during the market.

Aunt Leva, I am so sad to hear about Uncle Carl. Although we haven't seen each other in forever I think of our family a lot and wonder what everyone is doing. I kept up with some of his accomplishments and I know he was a great chef. Give my love to everyone and I will keep you in my prayers. LOVE, Helen.

So very sorry to hear of Carl's passing. He was an amazing Man who made such a difference in the lives of so many. From raising $$ to feed hungry kids, to scholarships to giving Fair Ground neighborhood kids a place to work and stay out of trouble.
When I shared the news of Carl's passing with Sally Shelton, she said, "well I guess we know there will be one GRAND BUFFET and fabulous food in Heaven--now that Carl is there". I'm looking forward to that and to seeing Carl again. Prayers for you all in your loss.

To Carl's family and brothers, I was surprise to hear of his death. I am truly sorry
and want his family to know he was a good man and a fine chef. I met him through his brother Chet when we were around 16 and would go into the bakery he was working at and get free doughnuts and to a 16 year old that was a real treat.

Learned today of Carl's passing. I was at the Pork Council from 1996-2000 and loved so much working with Carl and the JOY he found working in and around Food. Prayers and Hugs to you and the family!
