William L. Beyer Sr., 89 of Indianapolis but spent many years in Petersburg, IN passed away at Madison Healthcare on February 2, 2019. William was born on January 6, 1930 in Shelby County, Indiana to Leo F. and Justina O. Beyer (Ruhlman). He married Dora Jean Grubb in 1991 in Waterloo, Illinois and they resided for many years in Petersburg, IN.
William graduated from Waldron H.S. in 1948 and joined the U.S. Army. He served his country with distinction and retired from the U.S. Army as a Lt. Colonel. He worked stateside for the Selective Service System and later for the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles. William loved to dance and garden. He was a self-proclaimed mole eradicator and kept his neighbors yards free of those pesky critters. He enjoyed listening to old country music and watching the Indiana Pacers.
William is survived by his sister Rita Teal and by 3 sons and 4 daughters. William L. Beyer Jr., Nancy Koehring (Glenn), Jill Frye (Bill), Carol Beyer, Jeff Beyer (Erin), Greg Beyer (Donna) and Amy Click (Joe.) He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
William was predeceased by his wife Dora Jean and 8 brothers and sisters. A private graveside service will be held at the Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg, Indiana.
