Stanley Benge Obituary

Stanley M. Benge, 89, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 12, 2019. Stanley was born February 3, 1930 in Indianapolis, the son of the late Stanley Russell and Sina (Pursifull) Benge.

Stanley graduated from Washington High School in 1948. Stanley met and married Jean Leverenz and they together made their home in Indianapolis where they raised their family. He retired from Lawyers/Ticor Title after working for Citizens Gas Company for 20 years. They moved to Plainfield, Indiana in 1999 and resided there until his passing. Stanley was a member of the Plainfield Christian Church as well as the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Golf Club.

Stanley was passionate about his children and grandchildren, always speaking of his pride in their accomplishments. He was also an avid fan of Plainfield Girls Golf and Basketball and Roncalli Girls Basketball. Stanley attended many games and meets where his children coached and grandchildren played to provide his support. Whenever he could not physically attend (which was rare), he was there in spirit as his presence will continue to be.

Stanley is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Evelyn “Jean” Benge; his children, Becky (George) Minix, Stan (Shirley) Benge, Brad (Laura) Benge and Curt (Jennifer) Benge as well as eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, supporter and friend.

A Celebration of Life for Stanley will be held at 5:30 pm, Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the Brickyard Crossing Smokehouse, 4400 W. 16th St., Indianapolis. The attire will be casual, please wear your bright colors.
