Sidney D. Roach

Sidney D. Roach, 97, of Indianapolis, passed away April 1, 2019. He was born March 20, 1922 in Rochester, Kentucky to the late Sidney Wayne and Vadie Pendley Roach. Sid was married to the late Maxine Roach. He was an Army veteran of WW II, and was awarded a Purple Heart, Good Conduct Metal and European African Middle Eastern Service Medal. Sid was employed as a machinist for many years at P.R. Mallory and Company retiring in 1987. He was a member of Southport Baptist Church (One Christian Church).

Sid is survived by his daughter Linda C. (Larry) Ping; son-in-law Russell Harms; brother Lester Roach; six grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. He is preceded in passing by his wife, parents, daughter Diana Harms and eleven silbings.  

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center. Calling will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the mortuary. Services in Morgantown, Kentucky will be Monday, April 8, at 11:00 a.m. at Smith Funeral Home. Calling will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home. Sid's grandsons Minister Larry R. Ping and Minister Leland R. Ping will be conducting services both in In Indianapolis and in Morgantown. Interment with military honors will follow at Rochester Cemetery, Rochester, Kentucky. The family has suggested memorial gifts be given to the Alzheimers Foundation of America.
