Roxann (Truitt) Sturm

Roxann (Truitt) Sturm, of Greenwood, went to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Greenwood Village South. She was 90. She was born June 17, 1929 in Indianapolis to Edwin Truitt and Cora Truitt Reinhart.

Roxann was a 1947 graduate of Shortridge High School and served as an executive secretary at Eli Lilly and Company for 23 years. She married Richard ‘Hank’ Sturm on June 4, 1950 and they were married for 67 years. She was a faithful member of Southport Presbyterian Church for many years where she served in several capacities including that of an ordained deacon.

Roxann enjoyed doing many forms of needlework, including many gifts for friends and family as well as crocheting endless prayer shawls for the church’s prayer shawl ministry. She loved studying God’s Word and attending Bible study. In retirement, Hank and Roxann enjoyed traveling the United States as well as overseas. One of their greatest joys was spending time with each of their ten grandchildren.

Roxann is survived by her sons, Steven (Nancy) Sturm and David (Barbara) Sturm; her grandchildren, Joshua (Julie) Sturm, Caroline (Tim) Kleyn, Emily Sturm, Daniel (Anna) Sturm, Jonathan (Elsa) Sturm, Melanie Sturm, Michael Sturm, Anastasia Sturm, Gregory (Shelby) Sturm and Laura (Joel) Stafford; 12 great-grandchildren as well as her sisters-in-law, Mildred Constable and Phyllis Sturm.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband, Richard ‘Hank’ Sturm and her infant daughter, Karen Sue Sturm.

The family will receive friends Thursday, June 27, 2019 from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at the Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am Friday, June 28, 2019 at the Southport Presbyterian Church, 7525 McFarland Boulevard, Indianapolis with calling one hour prior to the time of service. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood.
