Rex Allen Johnson

Mr. Rex Allen Johnson, of Indianapolis, passed away on the early morning of Sunday, December 22, 2019 at Franciscan Health – Indianapolis. He was 64. Rex was born January 23, 1955 a son of the late William Kenneth and Norma Jean (Hartman) Johnson in Indianapolis.

Rex attended Decatur Central High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1973. He was the owner of Steal-a-Deal Carpet Care for many years serving the Indianspolis area. Rex enjoyed watching football and looked forward every week to seeing the Colts play. He also enjoyed cars, fishing as well as dancing and music with his favorite genre being anything he could dance to.

Rex is survived by his life-partner of 47 years, Sharon Lynn Craven; his children, Shane Shamblin and Denise (Gary) Miller; his grandchildren, Kaleigh Shamblin and Holly (Joseph) McElfresh; his great-granddaughters, Mayci and Chloe McElfresh; his siblings, Randy (Dana) Johnson and Rhonda Turner; his nieces, Marva Vallad, Jamie Christens and Tayla Turner and his nephews, Ronnie Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, Richard Johnson, Travis Turner, Doug Brandenburg and Gary Brandenburg.

In addition to his parents, He was preceded in passing by his son, Brad Allen Johnson; a sister, Nancy Brandenburg and a brother Richard Johnson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Thursday, December 26, 2019 at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 1202 South Lynhurst Drive, Indianapolis with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the service Thursday. Burial will follow at West Newton Cemetery.
