Leo York Obituary

Mr. Leo Kennedy “Kenny” York, of Indianapolis, passed away on the early morning of Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Beech Grove Meadows in Indianapolis. He was 81. Kenny was born November 28, 1937 in Indianapolis, a son of the late Leo Samuel and Edna (Morehead) York.

Kenny attended Broad Ripple High School and also attended Holy Name Catholic Church for many years. He was employed as a truck driver most of his life and for the past 22 years he had driven for Special Dispatch as a courier. Kenny loved auto racing, especially NASCAR. He had driven race cars himself and had raced at the famed Darlington Motor Speedway in Darlington, South Carolina. As a youngster, he enjoyed fishing and going to the Indiana State Fair which he continued doing as an adult. He loved his family and was a good husband and father.

Kenny is survived by his wife, Sue York; his children, Laura (Rick) McAdams, Victoria Troutman and Christina Keeler; six grandchildren as well as six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in passing by his half-sister, Margaret and a half-brother, Harold.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, July 1, 2019 at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center. The family will receive friends from 9:00 am until the time of service at the mortuary.
