Mrs. Glenda Kay Cherry, of Indianapolis, went home to be with the Lord on the afternoon of Friday, August 16, 2019. She was 79. Glenda was born September 3, 1939 in Indianapolis a daughter of the late Earl L. and Lula M. (Roark) Cannon.
Glenda attended Wood High School and for 10 years was employed as a paper cutter for Hurt's Printing but spent most of her life as a homemaker, taking care of her family. She was a faithful member of First United Evangelical Church for many years until health issues limited her attendance, She enjoyed Gospel Music, playing her guitar and singing, reading her Bible, crossword puzzles, word searches and attending church. She loved family gatherings and especially being with her grandchildren. She was a wonderful mother, seeing that the needs of her family were met.
Glenda is survived by her children and their spouses, Dale and Vickie Cherry and Robin and Tom Meyer; her grandchildren, Chris (Heather) Cherry, Kyle (Tara) Cherry, Billy LaFara, Brittany LaFara and Jennifer Michelle (Jacob) Miller; her great-grandchildren, Makayla Murphy, Keera Murphy, Rylee Murphy, Braydon Murphy, Emma Rose Cherry and Liam Miller; her sister, Nancy Hurt as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband of 56 years, Dorris Lee Cherry; her brothers, Gene Cannon, Don Cannon and Richard Cannon and twin sisters, Betty and Barbara Cannon.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am, Thursday, August 22, 2019 at the Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center with Pastors Ray Hampton and Floyd Tyree officiating. Burial will follow to New Crown Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 8:00 pm, Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at the mortuary.
