George Glant Obituary

Mr. George Eugene Glant, of Indianapolis, passed away on the late evening of Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Crestwood Village South. He was 98. He was born March 3, 1921 in Warsaw, Indiana a son of the late Chester E. and Margaret (Ferverda) Glant.

George attended Warsaw Community High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1939. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and honorably served his country during World War II. He had been employed at Zimmer Manufacturing Company in Warsaw and retired as an expediter from Bristol-Myers-Squibb after 42 years of service.

George and his wife, Millie, came to Indianapolis and lived here for 10 years after spending 20 years in Palm Harbor, Florida. He was a member of VFW Post 49 and was a long-time member of First Baptist Church, both in Warsaw. George was an outdoorsman and enjoyed traveling, camping and gardening as well as working with stained glass.

George will be remembered for embracing a full life, his love of God and family along with his quiet strength.

George is survived by his sons, Robert E. (Jerri) Glant and John E. Glant; his grandchildren, Eric (Rene) Glant, Jeffrey Glant, Joshua (Misty) Glant and Erin Glant; several great-grandchildren and his sister, Mary Wigner.

In addition to his parents, George is preceded in passing by his loving wife of over 70 years, Mildred M. ‘Millie’ Glant; a brother, Chester Glant, Jr. and a sister, Joyce Zimmermann.

George will be inurned at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw.
