Mrs. Anita Eileen Cook, of Indianapolis but more recently of Plainfield, passed away on the early evening of Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Cumberland Trace in Plainfield. She was 94. Eileen was born October 6, 1924 in Bartholomew County, Indiana, a daughter of the late Dore and Edith (Elzea) Nolting.
Eileen was a graduate of Acton High School and was employed at Eli Lilly and Company in the production of insulin and later at A&P Warehouse as a claims processor. She had been a member of the Southport Baptist Church since January of 1950, nearly 70 years.
Eileen enjoyed cooking, reading and working crossword puzzles in the newspaper. She dearly loved her family and cherished the moments she could be with them.
Eileen is survived by her daughter and her husband, Cheryl and Stephen Leavelle; her son-in-law, Butch Watson; her grandchildren and their spouses, Gretchen and Jeremy Stephens, Kristin and Paul Gendron, Ryan and Saidee Watson and Stephanie and Dan Sharman; eight great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Nancy Nolting as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by her husband of over 64 years, Charles Edward Cook, whom she married April 28, 1945; her son, Dean R. Cook; her daughter, Charleen Watson; her brothers, Donald Nolting and his wife Florence and Eugene Nolting as well as a sister, Naomi Huffman.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 pm, Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at the Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center. Burial will follow to Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service Tuesday at the mortuary.
