Mr. David Amos ‘Dave’ Brown, of Indianapolis, passed away unexpectedly on the morning of Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at his residence. He was 64. Dave was born October 4, 1954 in Indianapolis, the son of the late Stanley Alfred and Marjorie Jean (Peyton) Brown.
Dave attended Lawrence Central High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1972. He was also a 1991 graduate of IUPUI, earning a degree in Electrical Engineering. He began his career at Bell Laboratories and then owned and operated Business by Design before retiring in 2015 from Thompson Electric.
Dave loved music and was a musician, playing both the piano and drums. In the late 1960’s, he played and sang in a band. Dave was a problem solver and enjoyed creating things. He was a gifted woodworker and particularly enjoyed acoustic design and of course, electronics. Dave also loved his dogs, Jake, Rags and Nikita.
Dave is survived by his wife, Kathleen R. Brown; his children, Annie (Joey) Dykstra, Jenny (Ronnie) Doan, Jonathan (Ericka) Brown and Michael Brown; seven grandchildren; his stepfather, Gene Parson; his sisters, Kathy (Dave) Cuppy and Karen Butler as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in passing by a daughter, Mayme Tapp.
Services will be at 2:00 pm, Monday, April 1, 2019 at One Christian Church (formerly Southport Baptist Church), 2901 E. Banta Rd., Indianapolis with Pastor Bill Goodrich officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until the hour of service at the church. Burial will follow to Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Greenwood.
