Geraldine "Gerry" (Van Volkenburgh) Shidler, 82, formerly known as Geraldine DeBoer of Indianapolis passed away February 17, 2024. Gerry was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Gerry had few hobbies other than garage sales, flea markets, bazaars and she liked collecting clocks and teddy bears. Gerry worked at Diamond Chain in the 1960’s and 1970’s and she also worked for Chapel Hill Ace Hardware for many years and also several years Working in the Parking Department for Indianapolis International Airport. Due to severe arthritis, she was forced to retire early. Mom had been a widow since 1994 when her husband Burton Leach passed away from cancer. Gerry is survived by her son Mitchell DeBoer and her son in law Mark DeBoer, also her daughter Emily Wheat, and granddaughters Grace and Carey, and grandson Baleighan.
Services for Gerry will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 23,2024 at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center, 1202 South Lynhurst Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana 46241 with calling from 11:00 a.m., until time of service. Pastor Jeff Stratton conducting services. Graveside service will take place at 2:30p.m. Friday, February 23, 2024, at Rest Haven Cemetery, Edinburg, Indiana.
