Elvan “Van” Cecil Chamberlin 74, Greenwood, passed away on July 14, 2012. He was born in Indianapolis on August 12th, 1937.  He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janice Kay Chamberlin, and his five children Erin Chamberlin-Snyder, MD, Renee Dougherty, Mary Howe, Brian Chamberlin (Marilyn) and Eric Chamberlin; and 12 grandchildren: Kasey, Haley, and Nolan Snyder; Richard, Todd, and Lindsey Dougherty; Zach and Holly Howe; Sophie Chamberlin; and Alec, Savannah and Claire Chamberlin; and six great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his brothers Father Gregory, OSB and Floyd Chamberlin.  He is preceded in death by his parents Rosemarie and Cecil Chamberlin and sister, Maureen Chamberlin.
He was the owner and proprietor of Professional Services Corporation and Loan officer for Beneficial and Cash Loans of Greenwood. He served in the US Navy Reserves, Aeronautic Division from 1954-1962. He was a member of Our Lady of the Greenwood, Greenwood Jaycees and Moose Lodge.  He was awarded membership in the United States President’s Club for outstanding services in 1967 and received Jaycee’s International Senator Award in 1974.   He chaired Greenwood Old Settlers Day several years. He played Santa Claus for various organizations.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Our Lady of the Greenwood, the Celebrant will be Rev. Msgr. Mark Svarczkopf and the homily will be given by his brother Father Gregory Chamberlin.  Visitation will be 4:00 -8:00 PM, Tuesday, July 19, 2012 in Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM at the mortuary.

I work with Brian at Western Carolina University. We were all very sorry to hear of Mr. Chamberlin's death. Many good thoughts from North Carolina are being sent your way.

Although we have lost track of your family through the many years, we will never forget our wonderful neighbors, the Chamberlins. I have thought of Maureen and prayed for her many times and now know where she is.
