Although I have never met anyone in Bill's family, I would like to express my sincere condolences and sympathies to the entire family. I met Bill in the late 70s when I was starting a small luggage company. Bill helped me get started with samples of zippers and studs for our bags. He was always helpful and provided encouragement. Bill always smiled and was always positive. My luggage company lasted for about a year, we never really got off the ground. But with Bill's help, we made a small profit. I no longer live in Indianapolis, but I do read the Indianapolis Star and saw his obituary yesterday. My wife and I were shocked. Again, I wish to extend my support to the DeLaCruz family during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Dr. Gerald Thompkins

Cinda sent me the message that Billy had left us. What wonderful memories I have of this more than kind joyful man. My grandmother Ellis was blessed by his attention, as well as with so many memories, some are stronger. I will never forget when he called my dad and said, well Bud, I got my boy, now you get yours! Our whole family cherished him for his ever faithful making each of us feel so important. I can still hear his voice, and laughter after all these years, and I am sure that there are many who are delighted to hear that laughter resonating again in God''''''''''''''''s house. Sending love and condolences, Marge and Smith

Always with a smile, Billy DeLaCruz was a joyful man who enjoyed life and contact with other people, a man of peace devoted to Holy Rosary Parish. A loyal Hispanic member of the Italian Church for decades, he assisted me with historical info while I was writing the parish history in 1984, provided background on the city's Mexican community before the 1990s, and joined me in a TV interview marking the Columbus anniverary. With Alice he always greeted me by name when we attended Mass at HR. At the same time, he phoned me annually to sell admission tickets to the first street festivals -- just one of his many contributions to his beloved parish. God should have an easy time rewarding such a good and faithful servant.
