I always enjoyed working with Grumpy whether it was on the road, at a DSFO meeting, or watching the smiling faces of the many children that were helped by the Shop With A Deputy and Deputy Duffels programs that he oeversaw through his years of dedication to the Deputy Sheriff's Fraternal Organization. Rest well friend you have doen more than your share.

Mel, I am so sorry to hear of Grumpy''s passing. I cannot recall the number of hours that we spent together at DSFO, let alone on the road together. At least he is resting in peace. May God be with you during this trying times!!

We worked together over the years at MCSD. As the years go by friends are moving on to a place of pease were police and Sheriff Deputies are not needed. That does not make it easy for the family to say goodby. Let your tears of sadness dry knowing that we will all be together in pease and joy.
May God be with you during this time of sorrow.

CURT AND I WERE SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT "GRUMPY" THE NAME WE ALWAYS CALLED HIM, EVEN ON DUTY (BUT NOT IN THE PRESENCE OF CITIZENS). SGT. GRUNDEN COVERED MOST OF MY ON-DUTY-ACCIDENTS AND HE WAS ALWAYS PROFESSIONAL AND SUPPORTIVE IN MY RECUPERATION TIME.
CURT AND I HAD THE UTMOST RESPECT FOR HIM BOTH AS A SGT AND AS AN INDIVIDUAL. BECAUSE WE RESIDE IN FLORIDA, WE WILL BE UNABLE TO COME TO HIS FUNERAL, BUT WILL BE THINKING OF HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

Floyd was a man of few words. A dry sense of humor but he cared about the people he worked with and his friends. I appreciated the direction and sometimes the ass chewing I got from him. He always meant well. I especially appreciated the time he spent with my oldest son Matt. He would take him to outings and spend time with him like he was his own son. I know my son is a better man knowing "Grumpy" and I know he's in a better place without pain.
God Bless sir.

Ray doing one of the things he really loved, working with the Sheriff Department and Meijer’s to make Christmas a little better for some of the less fortunate children of Marion County through the Deputy Sheriff’s Fraternal Organization’s Shop With A deputy program.
